Intact antique Japanese porcelain soy bottle "JAPANSCHZOYA" and "CPD". 

soy bottle of porcelain, made in Arita, Japan.

The bottle is manufactured for export of soya by the Dutch VOC (Dutch East India Company) from Japan to Europe. From 1641 to 1859 the Dutch were the only ones allowed to trade with Japan. That could only on the isolated island of Deshima near Nagasaki. From this trading post soy was transported.

The inscription reads on the front "JAPANSCHZOYA" at the bottom of the bottle "CPD" which stands for "comprador Deshima". On the back is an oval mark applied inside "CPD" and the legend "compradors decima" and Japanese characters.

sojafles van porselein, gemaakt in Arita, Japan.

De fles is vervaardigd voor de export van soja door de Nederlandse VOC (Verenigde Oost-Indische Compagnie) vanuit Japan naar Europa. Van 1641 tot 1859 mochten de Nederlanders als enige handel drijven met Japan. Dat kon alleen op het afgelegen eiland Deshima bij Nagasaki. Vanuit deze handelspost werd soja vervoerd.

De inscriptie luidt op de voorkant "JAPANSCHZOYA" op de bodem van de fles "CPD" wat staat voor "comprador Deshima". Op de achterkant is een ovale markering aangebracht in "CPD" en de legende "compradors decima" en Japanse karakters.
